PEORIA - On May 28, at approximately 8 a.m., police and paramedics responded to the 8800 block of West Brown Street to a child drowning in a residential pool.

The child was pulled from the pool by an adult, who immediately began providing life saving measures to the child until Peoria Fire-Medical arrived and took over.

Peoria Fire-Medical arrived on scene and transported the child to a local hospital doing all they could to save the young boy.

At approximately 8:37 a.m., the 4-year-old boy passed away at the hospital.

Peoria detectives responded to the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident; however, preliminary investigation shows the child may have used a chair to exit the home and an additional chair to open the pool gate.

Peoria detectives will determine if any charges are warranted. At this time, no arrests have been made.
