These kids were Terrific

New River Elementary School fourth-graders Jessica Fallenbeck and Lauren Slater were named the fourth-quarter Terrific Kids.

New River Kiwanis Program Coordinator Bobby Thompson presented the students with an award at a recent assembly.

Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance.

Students work with their classroom teacher and establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance or schoolwork.

Students then work toward achieving the goal during a specific time period.

Their teachers assess student progress and recommend them for recognition. The students receive certificates,
T-shirts, bumper stickers and a $50 savings bond in their name.

Jessica and Lauren were the seventh and eighth Terrific Kids recognized during the 2007-08 school year.

Aaron Michael Ordway, Noah Clark, Camelin Carter, Tyler Zehrung, Morgan Starkey and Madie Vadovich.
