The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is partnering with Lyft ride-sharing services for its “Save Lives, Don’t DUI” campaign that promotes safe and sober driving during the holiday season.
From now until New Year’s Eve, first-time Lyft users that download the app can get $5 off their first four rides by entering the promotion code “JOY”.  Riders who already use Lyft can get 20 percent off four rides by entering the promotion code “JOY17”.
“This time of year is meant to be one of celebration and joy for our community, and we’re hoping this incentive will help convince people to enjoy the festivities without putting anyone at risk on our roads,” said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery in the press release.
This campaign is in efforts to curb DUIs this holiday season while still allowing residents to enjoy festivities safely, according to the press release.
“By getting the ‘Save Lives, Don’t DUI’ message out during the entire month we hope to keep our roadways safer.”
During the holidays last year more than 2,000 DUI arrests were made across Arizona with the average blood alcohol limit being almost twice the legal limit, which is .08 statewide.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office to promote Lyft as a safe ride option for people around the holidays,” said Drena Kusari, Lyft’s Phoenix General Manager in the press release.
Lyft is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week, and services Phoenix, Anthem, Peoria, Scottsdale and Cave Creek among other areas in Maricopa County.  During times of high demand fare may increase at the time of your ride request, according to Lyft’s website.
“Expanding access to more safe, reliable transportation options like Lyft can only be beneficial, and we look forward to continuing our work together to increase driving safety and lessen DUIs for all of Arizona,” Kusari said.
