DMFD firefighters collecting toys to donate to children’s hospitals

NORTH VALLEY – The Daisy Mountain Firefighters Charities Association is once again collecting toys to be given to hospitalized children in the Valley. The association will also adopt several families in the fire district and will share gifts and more with these families.

Firefighters will be collecting toys this weekend at the Wal-mart in Anthem. Donations will also be accepted at all five Daisy Mountain stations. The majority of the toys will be donated to the MIHS Arizona Children’s Center; toys will also be donated to the HonorHealth Sonoran Health and Emergency Center and to Mendy’s Place.

Jon Binsbacher, DMFD firefighter and Charities Association President, said via email that the toy drive is off to a good start.

“You can find us at Walmart or drop off at any of our five fire stations,” Binsbacher said. “As usual, we can't thank the community enough.”

Firefighters and Santa will hand-deliver the toys to hospitalized children on the Friday before Christmas. Previous years’ toy drives have netted enough toys for the hospitals to keep on-hand all year long, allowing a child who arrives at the hospital during the year to pick out a toy and providing some comfort during a difficult time.
