CAVE CREEK – Two pedestrians were intentionally run over by a truck, killing a 47-year-old woman and seriously injuring an 11-year-old girl last Wednesday night near 41st Street and Maya Way, said Phoenix Police.

Witnesses reported seeing Trent Ferree drive straight towards the two victims while they were walking on the sidewalk, running them over with his truck. He then backed his vehicle up, striking the woman again, and then drove forward, striking her a third time, according to police.

The 47-year-old victim has been identified as Amy Chervenak; she was found with extremely critical injuries when police arrived on the scene, and was then transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The minor was transported with less serious injuries, but no information has been released on her condition at the time, police said.

During the investigation, police learned that Ferree allegedly attempted to strike two other pedestrians while they were walking in the neighborhood, but they managed to jump out of the way. They are only being identified as a 48-year-old female, and a 53-year-old male, Sgt. Alan Pfohl said in a press release on Thursday.

Witnesses were able to pull Ferree out of his truck after the assault, detaining him until police arrived.  He will be booked for one count of first degree murder and three counts of attempted first degree murder.
