Cave Creek Walmart evacuates following bomb scare

The Walmart Supercenter in Cave Creek was evacuated and closed for seven hours
on Thanksgiving after an assistant manager found a suspicious device in an employee refrigerator.
According to Maricopa County Sheriff Office reports an assistant manager at the store, located at 34399 N. Cave Creek Road, found a device with flashing lights and wires attached to it.
MCSO personnel were contacted at 4:21 p.m. The store, with approximately 20 employees and 20 customers, was evacuated while the bomb squad dealt with the device, which turned out not to be an explosive. MCSO also took bomb sniffing dogs through the rest of the building before deeming it safe.
Employees returned to work at 9:30 p.m. and the store reopened for business at 11 p.m.
Walmart gave its security camera footage to the Sheriff’s Office, but MCSO personnel said at this point they have no suspects regarding the incident.
