gets North Valley ready for season with Holiday Concert

ProMusica Arizona will perform “The Many Moods of Christmas” with
concerts at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and at 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at Boulder Creek
High School. The shows will feature the group’s brass ensemble, the
full orchestra and chorale and its new youth choir. In all, more than
150 people will be performing Christmas music.
Before the concert, the PMAZ brass ensemble will serenade early arrivals
with a brass arrangements of Christmas Time is Here, Gesu Bambino,
White Christmas, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Ding Dong
Merrily on High, Here we Come a Wassailing, Angels We have Heard on
High, Deck the Halls and many more.
The twelve voice women’s chamber choir will open the concert with
songs such as Cantate by John Levitt, Tomorrow Will be My Dancing
Day and Candlelight Carol by John Rutter and a series of the Alfred
Burt Carols, All on a Christmas Morning, We’ll Dress the House, and
Caroling, Caroling.
The new ProMusica Arizona Youth Choir, under the direction of Jason
Neumann, will make its formal concert debut singing a set of holiday
favorites.
For the fourth season in a row, the talented bakers from the North
Valley GFWC will offer holiday treats and refreshments before the
concert and during intermission.
The combined orchestra and chorale join together in the second half
to present all four suites of Robert Shaw’s “Many Moods of Christmas.”
Shaw was one of the most recognized choral conductors of the 20th
century. Recordings of Shaw’s choirs received more than 14 Grammy
Awards and in 1991 Shaw received the Kenny Center Honors Award. PMAZ
is proud to perform this particular work that features his arrangements
of 18 of the world’s most beloved Christmas songs including Good Christian
Men Rejoice, Silent Night, Patapan, O Come All Ye Faithful, Joy to
the World, Fum, Fum, Fum, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Bring a Torch
Jeannette Isabella, Angeles We have Heard on High, I Saw Three Ships,
O Little Town of Bethlehem, Deck the Halls and other favorites.
Tickets prices are $20 for adults, $18 for senior, and $15 for students.
