ProMusica Arizona (PMAZ) continues its holiday musical tradition by
celebrating a “Joyous Noel!” at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 and
4 p.m. on Dec. 18 at Boulder Creek High School Performing Arts Center.
The 2011 concert includes arrangements of classic and modern hymns
such as John
Rutter’s “What Sweeter Music” and stirring fully-orchestrated arrangements
of ever-popular Christmas favorites including “Silent Night,” “O Come
All Ye Faithful,” and “We Three Kings” performed by the full complement
of its 110-member chorale and orchestra.
The Women’s Chamber Choir will feature a beautiful arrangement of
“The First Noel” and the Brass Ensemble will perform several works
including the King’s College favorite “Once in David’s Royal City.”
PMAZ also is including two new features to the concert. First is a
celebrity reading of the traditional biblical Christmas story by Aprilynne
Pike, author of the New York Times best-selling WINGS series. Second
is the addition of special lighting and visual effects. Adam Stich,
Artistic Director for the concert, noted that this will be a truly
complete experience and offer something new even to those who have
made this an annual holiday tradition.
“We wanted to create an immersive entertainment experience. Something
that leaves the audience member feeling like they have been to a spectacular
event as well as a concert.”
The Boulder Creek High School Performing Arts Center is located at
40404 N. Gavilan Peak Parkway in Anthem. To enhance the enjoyment
of the production, performances will run without intermission. Ticket
prices are $15 for adults, $12.50 for seniors, and $5 for students.
