Boulder Creek band recognized at NAU competition

Boulder Creek High School Marching Band was rewarded for its hard
work and efforts by earning a Superior rating in Division 2 for their
performance at the Northern Arizona University annual Band Day competition
in Flagstaff on Oct. 22.
Inside the NAU Walkup Skydome, the band played music by composer and
pianist Ludwig van Beethoven. The band is under the direction of Glenn
Hart.
The members on the band staff include; Mike May- Visual Coordinator,
Ian Peterson –Brass Instructor, Christopher Serbic- Woodwind Instructor.
The Jaguar Color Guard is under the direction of Jennifer Siler with
percussion under the direction of Steven Siler.
Each band is judged on a 5-tier rating system with a Superior performance
equivalent to getting an A on a report card. An Excellent rating is
equivalent to a B, while a Good rating is equal to a C.
Six judges evaluated bands in the caption areas of music performance,
visual performance, general effect, auxiliary, and percussion. Those
areas determine each band’s overall rating. Caption awards were presented
to all bands who, in the opinion of the adjudicators, exhibited excellence
in their performance.
