Wayne Wilson Rodeo cancelled

STAFF REPORT ~ 10/12/2011

The Desert Foothills Community Association voted to cancel the 3rd annual Wayne Wilson Rodeo.
The cancellation was caused by losses sustained from poor attendance at the 33rd annual Cave Creek Fiesta Days Rodeo, in April that saw cold, rainy weather keep crowds away, as well as the grand theft larceny at the rodeo grounds at the conclusion of the event. DFCA property contained in the connex box was stolen – another huge loss and setback for the organization.
The DFCA is focused this Fall on fundraising efforts in order to recover from those losses. This month the group is volunteering at the Running of the Bulls in Cave Creek, which gets under way Friday and runs through Sunday.  The DFCA, which has been named as one of the beneficiaries of the event, is looking for volunteers.  Email volunteer@cavecreekprorodeo.com if you can help out.
The second fundraising effort will be on Nov. 4th, during Wild West Days.  The event will include the inaugural Wild West Casino Night at Harold’s Corral.
The Grand Prize for the evening is a Wrangler National Finals Rodeo package that includes a 2-night stay at the Mirage in Las Vegas along with two tickets to the National Finals.
For information on tickets to the Wild West Casino Night or to sponsor a table, email sponsorship@cavecreekprorodeo.com.  The 34th Annual Cave Creek Fiesta Days Rodeo will take place March 28 through April 1.
