Local theaters take home hardware at ariZoni award banquet

Desert Foothills Theater, Musical Theater of Anthem and Starlight Community Theater were all recognized at last week’s ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence banquet.
Desert Foothills Theater received five Zonis with T.A. Burrows leading the way as Best Actor in a Major Role for his work in A DAN-DEE Musical Review.
The show also saw Dan Kurek earn a  Zoni for Best Music Director, Wes Sullivan for Best Lighting Design and Toby Payne for Best Sound Design.
The theater also saw Lori Vander Maten take the Zoni for Best Properties Design for her work in The Dixie Swim Club.
In youth theater Lilly LeBlanc was the Zoni winner for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in Starlight Community Theater’s run of The Emperor’s New Clothes.
Musical Theater of Anthem’s two Zonis came for Guest Actor in a youth theater production with K.C. Lindley and Matt Newhard both being honored for their performances in Peter Pan.
