Anthem hosts annual triathlon

More than 245 athletes turned on in Anthem this weekend to participate in the Anthem Sprint Triathlon, which started and ended at the Anthem Community Center. The event includes a 5Km run, a 20 Km bike course and a 400 meter swim. In the women’s division Lindsey Ryder, a 19-year-old Arizona State University student, won in a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes and 11.3 seconds to best 48-year-old Michaela Skelly-Lankford who finished 1:09 off the pace at 1:08.20.8. Taking third was 24-year-old Christina Yemm who finished with a time of 1:13:15.7. On the men’s side the event was won by Ryan Petry, also an ASU student. Petry, 20, finished in a time of 55:43.9. Brian Folts, 25, was the runner-up at 56:03.2 with 32-year-old Juan Rodela taking third at 1:01:32.3. The top finisher from Anthem was Jeffrey Marquis, who finished in a time of 1:08.15.4. Cave Creek’s Steve Rink rounded out the top ten by turning in a time of 1:05.33.5. For complete race results, including age division winners go to http://4peaksracing.com.
