Nearly 300 compete in Anthem Triathlon

The 4th annual Anthem Sprint Triathlon drew nearly 300 participants to the area on Saturday.
The event, which is reverse order of a typical triathlon, starts with a run and ends with a swim. The event included a five kilometer run, a 20 kilometer bike race before a 400 meter swim at the Anthem Rec Center to complete the event.
The winner on the women’s side was Shauna Glazier, who turned in a time of 1 hour 10 minutes and 33 seconds. Glazier’s best event was the bike where she turned in a time of 36 minutes and 32 seconds, good enough for second overall.
On the men’s side Lewis Elliott won the event in the time of 55 minutes and 44 seconds. His time shaved 3:03 off last year’s winning time of 58:47.
Elliott turned in the best effort in both the run, with a time of 16:52 and on the bike, where he completed the course in a time of 32 minutes and 40 seconds.
Along with overall winners the event crowned age group winners in five year increments and also honored the top finisher in the Clydesdales division, for men 200 pounds and up and an Athenas division for women 150 pounds and up as well as for the top relay team.
