Cave Creek teen earns national title

Cave Creek teen Chantz Stewart finished her summer break with a world championship.
The 17-year-old, who competed in five events at the Built Ford Tough American Quarter Horse Youth Association in mid August in Oklahoma City, won in working cow horse aboard Shining Cielo and also took second while riding Lone Star Chicolena.
Stewart scored 437 points during her two runs with Shining Cielo and then 434 points with Lone Star Chicolena to defeat her nearest competition, Morgan Holmes of Florida, who scored 430.5 points.
Along with winning in the working cow event, Stewart took fifth in the cutting event with 211.5 points, seven points behind the winner.
