COMMUNITY NEWS
MTA preps for upcoming season
Staff Report
~ 7/8/2010
Musical Theatre of Anthem’s (MTA) 2010 -11 season is filled with full-scale
musicals with a variety of styles. The season line-up includes “Jungle
Book KIDS” and “Once on this Island Jr.” rehearsing at the same time
(late summer/early fall).
Also included in MTA’s Season is the international hit, “Peter Pan”
done as a combined age production for ages 7-adult. Hammond says that
she is thrilled that Anthem will have the excitement of seeing people
“fly.” She is planning on hiring a rig crew (the same crew that flies
performers in Broadway Productions and National Tours), so that Peter
Pan can be as authentic and exciting to watch as possible. After selling
out MTA’s run of The Wizard of Oz, she wanted to bring another huge
show for the Anthem Community to enjoy.
Closing out the season will be, “Honk Jr.,” the story of The Ugly
Duckling. MTA will also be including a show with professional performing
adults (ages 15-adult).
MTA has two age ranges for productions: the no-cut Jr. MTA Productions
welcome performers ages 7-14, and the MTA Productions are for those
ages 15-adult.
