Cave Creek will host a pair of weekend fireworks shows, one on Saturday and one on Sunday while Anthem will have its show on Saturday. Wet and Wild, located off of 43 Ave. and Pinnacle Peak, will also have a Saturday show for those paying admission to the water park. Check page 5 for details on all the local shows.

North Valley sparkles with holiday fireworks shows

No matter what direction North Valley resident look there’s a good
chance they’ll be able to spot a fireworks show over the weekend as
Cave Creek, Anthem and Glendale all will have display to celebrate
the Fourth of July.
Listed below are the details for the local shows.
Cave Creek
Time: Festivities start at 5 p.m., Fireworks set for sunset
Day: Saturday
Location: Harold’s Cave Creek Corral (6895 E. Cave Creek Road)
Music: starts at 5 p.m., will be highlighted by EastonAshe performing
outside from 7 – 11:30 p.m., and Young Country performing inside beginning
at 8:30 p.m.
Youth activities: face painting, and the Games2U Mobile Video Theater,
a self-powered truck featuring all the top games for systems XBox
360, Playstation 3, and Wii.
Food: Barbecue will be available outside beginning at 5 p.m., drink
specials
Other highlights: Carefree Resort and Conference Center is offering
a stay-cation complete with free shuttle service for resort guests
to and from the celebration. Rates are $59 for Saturday or $45 per
night for a two-night Friday and Saturday package.
Notes: Admission to the 3rd of July Fireworks Display is free, but

Music: Cave Creek Cowboy Crew

the wheel of drinks, along with adult snow cones among other beverages

Anthem
Time: Festivities start 6 p.m., fireworks set for 9:30 p.m.
Day: Saturday
Location: Anthem Community Park (41703 North Gavilan Peak Parkway)
Music: The festivities get under way beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday
with live entertainment including a performance by Anthem’s first
“Anthem Idol,” Chelsea Simonetti, who will sing the National Anthem
live at 7 p.m. with a presentation of the Color Guard.
The Maule Sisters, a USO-style singing group, will take the stage
at 9 p.m. for a series of patriotic tunes.
A DJ and event emcee, as well as Persephone also will be part of the
musical entertainment.
Youth activities: In addition to a stilt walker and juggling acts,
there will be inflatables and water slides that kids can ride on an
unlimited basis with the purchase of a $10 bracelet that can be bought
at the Anthem Community Center and at the event. Pony rides, the Eurobungee
and face painting will also be available (prices vary) and temporary
patriotic tattoos will be given out for free at the Anthem Community
Center booth. Patriotic glow necklaces and American flags will also
be available for $1.
Food: BBQ; hot dogs, hamburgers and brats; Mexican food; kettle corn;
and fry bread. Sno-cones, ice cream and funnel cake are on tap for
dessert, and there will be plenty of beverages available at each of
the food booths, as well as at the Rotary Beer Garden.
Glendale
Time: Park opens at 10 a.m., fireworks set for 9:30 p.m.
Day: Saturday
Location: Wet ‘n’ Wild (4243 W. Pinnacle Peak Road, Glendale)
Entertainment: Rides include Maximum Velocity, Monsoon Bay, Phoenix
Flyers, Desert Racers, Tornado, Cactus Cooler, Serpentine Complex,
Raging River, Mammoth Falls, Boogie Board Beach and Soak ‘Em Playground
among others
Food: Red Rock Ravine Events Plaza will have an all-you-can-eat barbecue
lunch. Barbecue meal tickets are available for $9.99
Cost: Admission to the theme park is $34.99 for those that are taller
than 42 inches, $27.99 for those shorter than 42 inches, seniors cost
$27.99 while children 2 and younger are free.
