Carefree business women earn assist in arrest of robbery suspect
STAFF REPORT ~6/8/2011An alleged robbery suspect was arrested at approximately 11 a.m.
Thursday thanks
to three Carefree women who noticed suspicious activity and contacted
the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Helen Kasir of Helen’s Hair Designs was in her shop when she saw what
she deemed a strangely dressed man run past her shop carrying what
she thought was a lot of luggage.
“I noticed him because he was running, but he also was dressed weird,
all in blue,” she said.
Within minutes of Kasir seeing the man run by her shop she relayed
the man’s description to Stephanie McNeely, the owner of Dominion
Real Estate. McNeely who knew about the robbery began driving around
the area.
In her search McNeely came across Jackie Dean of Shelter Mortgage.
After relaying the description of the suspect to Dean the two found
the subject near the Chamber Commerce breezeway.
The women contacted Maricopa County Sheriff’s officers who arrested
the
man, who was still in possession of the laptop.
“Crime in Carefree doesn’t pay. The quick actions of local business
owners and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department paid off.” McNeely
said.
