Summer horse camp available in Cave Creek
Staff Report ~ 6/2/2010

“Adventure Horseback Camp” will take place from 7 – 11 a.m. Monday – June 11 and July 5-9 in Cave Creek.
Patricia Motley Training offers instruction for youngsters ages 9 – 16. Each child will be assigned a horse to groom, ride and love for the week-long camp. The staff is experienced in teaching grooming, saddling and riding techniques for beginners as well as the very advanced. The kids will be with their horse for more than two hours a day and learn what it is like to care for an animal.
The camp offers a test to determine whether a child is serious about having their own horse. Riding will take place early each morning with horse-related activities ongoing until 11 a.m. After riding activities will include, “know the horse day, movie day, game day, swim day and horse bath day.”
Fridays will consist of a community service project on horseback. Two to three wranglers will be on hand to teach and entertain the campers.
Cost is $375 per child per week. Children owning their own horses will be charged $100 per week for temporary boarding at Camp Home Rockaway Hills Ranch. Each child will be expected to provide a personal bike or riding helmet and must wear it all times when on horseback. Closed toed shoes are required, preferably some type of smooth soled boot is best, but tennis shoes are acceptable. The child should bring plenty of water and hydration drinks daily. A mid morning snack will be provided. Each child will be expected to sign a “Contract of Respect and Expectations,” assuring they understand our zero tolerance policy in regards to children respecting their parents, wranglers and other campers when on property. This will enable us to provide a safe and fun environment for everyone. Classes are limited to eight students per week.
