Anthem seeks Idol
Staff Report ~ 6/2/2010

The Anthem Community Council is seeking its first Anthem Idol, a performer who can sing the National Anthem a cappella at its Independence Day Festivities, which take place from 6 – 10 p.m. July 3, at the Anthem Community Park.
The event draws approximately 15,000 attendees from all over the North Valley. The Anthem Idol will also perform at the Outlets at Anthem that evening.
Auditions will take place from 8 a.m. – noon June 12 in the Game Room at the Anthem Community Center, which is located at 41130 N. Freedom Way in Anthem. Auditions are limited to the first 50 registrants who apply. Applications can be found at www.OnlineAtAnthem.com and should be returned by Monday to Jennifer Solomon, the Anthem Community Council’s Communications Director, at jsolomon@anthemcouncil.com.
All performers must sing the entire National Anthem a cappella (with no music accompaniment or microphone) for the judges and no recorded music will be accepted. It will be expected that the song be memorized and that performers can sing the entire song. Performers must be available from 6 – 10 p.m. July 3 in order to be considered.
Performers must arrive by 7:15 a.m. to audition on June 12. Judges will begin the audition process promptly at 8 a.m. and conclude auditions once all 50 applicants perform.
Performers will be judged on vocal ability, stage presence and the performance given. The winner will be determined at the conclusion of the auditions, so no callbacks will take place. All performers will be contacted to advise them of whether or not they were the selected winner. For information regarding Anthem Idol registrations or auditions, go to www.OnlineAtAnthem.com.
The panel of judges will consist of representatives from local arts groups including Musical Theatre of Anthem, On the Towne Community Theatre and ProMusica Arizona, as well as performing artist and owner of Demeter Music Productions, Persephone Dimson, and Rachael Killeen, an AriZoni award- winning actress/singer.
