CAVE CREEK – Pam DiPietro was awarded the 2018 Ruby Award by the Soroptimist International Saguaro Foothills Chapter for her work as the executive director of the Foothills Food Bank.

The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who have worked to improve the lives of women and girls through their profession or volunteer work. DiPietro has worked in her position with the food bank since 2002 and spearheaded its expansion allowing the organization to provide for more clients in underserved areas in the North Valley.

“Soroptimist would like to thank Pam for all her years of dedication and leadership to these communities,” stated the Soroptimist Saguaro Foothills Chapter in a press release.

Today the Foothills Food Bank services clients from Black Canyon City to as far east as Rio Verde and extending west to Pinnacle Peak with an annual budget of $500,000 from donations within the surrounding communities.

“I am very honored that Soroptimist would bestow such an honor on me.  I am also humbled,” said DiPietro.  “Soroptimist is a worldwide organization whose main goal is to help women and girls.  The Carefree Group expands that belief slightly by helping… with school backpacks for children and Bobcats Closet that helps children with clothes for school.”

Soroptimist International is a global women's organization working together to transform the lives of women and girls.   It works at the local, national and international levels to improve their lives through education leading to social and economic empowerment.

“One of my strongest goals in life after caring for my husband and children is to help those in need,” she said. “This is why I continue to work at the Foothills Food Bank where we give beyond just food by helping with resources.”

Congratulations to Pam DiPietro, and thanks for everything you do for our community!
