Staff Report ~ 3/3/2010

The Town of Cave Creek will host Celebrities Helping Communities, Saturday and Sunday for a two-day music festival that will benefit the community and its organizations in need at El Pedregal in Scottsdale.

The weekend kickoffs with a jam session from 6 – 9 p.m. Friday at the Hideaway Grill, at 6746 E. Cave Creek Road, in Cave Creek.
Festivities continue throughout the weekend at El Pedregal, running from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday.
Saturday’s festivities draw to a close with the annual bachelor and bachelorette auction.
Other activities include Pablo Antonio Milan, whose artwork will be sold at live auctions to raise money for Rodger’s Hansen’s pending transplant and for one of the non-profit organizations he supports, Huachinera Arts and Cultural Center. In addition, all concerts will be recorded and a live CD produced for sale. Tee shirts and other novelties will be sold to help various groups in the community at-large.
Proceeds from the weekend will benefit several organizations in addition to The Rodger Hansen Liver Transplant, and H.E.A.R.T (Huachinera Art and Cultural Center). Among those that also will be beneficiaries of the event are Desert Foothills Community Association Carefree/Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce, Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, Food Bank, Girl Scouts #1739, Bella Vista Fine Arts program, Desert Mountain Schools Fine Arts program and Sonoran Trails Middle School’s Fine Arts programs.
“Thanks to the kind donations of time by our performers and artists, we will be able to reach out to more than 10 different entities and give back in a generous and heartfelt way,” event organizer Alice Kunka said. “All performing artists are donating their instruments. The entire collection will go to the first person to commit $100,000 for Hansen’s transplant procedure and/or for his family in the event an organ is not available in time.”
Tickets to the event are $20, which are good for admission for both days of the event. El Pedregal is located at 34505 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale. For information on this weekend’s festivities go to www.cavecreekmusicfest.com.
