Waste Management Phoenix Open tees it up

Despite changing sponsors to the Waste Management Phoenix Open, “The Greatest Show on Grass” celebrates its 75th anniversary when it tees off Thursday with first round action getting under way at 7 a.m.
General admission is $25 daily or a $75 grounds badge can be purchased at the Main Tournament Entrance Ticket Booth, good for general admission throughout the tournament. Children 17 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Last year’s event winner, Kenny Perry, who won in a playoff over Charley Hoffman, returns to defend his crown against a star studded field that includes Valley favorite and former champion Phil Mickelson.
Play starts at 7 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, while starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The Waste Management Phoenix Open entertainment tent returns Wednesday through Saturday evenings. The tent, located across from the tournament entrance at the 82nd St. and Bell Road, is open beginning at 3:30 p.m. Thursday – Saturday. This year’s entertainment lineup includes The Chadwicks, Collective Soul, Static, Kelley James, and O.A.R. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 480-784-4444 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.

Free public parking with shuttle access to the tournament gates is available throughout the tournament. From the west, public parking is at Loop 101 and Hayden Road. It is recommend that eastbound Loop 101 drivers exit at Hayden, and drive south into the parking lot. From the east, parking is at WestWorld. It is recommend that drivers exit Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd., drive north to Bell Road, turn east to 94th street, and south into the parking lot entrance. The free shuttles operate from 6:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. through Saturday and from 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
On Sunday, during the final round of the 2010 Waste Management Phoenix Open, fans can purchase a hot dog, chips and a non-alcoholic beverage for just $7.50 (a $3 savings) at all Prom-Catering concession stands. For information on the Waste Management Phoenix Open, visit wmphoenixopen.com
