Anthem girl scouts lend hand to Foothills Food Bank
STAFF REPORT~ 2/22/2012
Anthem Girl Scout Troop 2540 donated 840 pounds of food to the Foothills Food Bank earlier this month.
The group, comprised of nine fifth graders from Anthem, Anthem Prep and Esperanza schools, used a variety of fundraisers to contribute to the project.
Among those efforts was a second annual Father-Daughter dance on Jan. 27 at St. Rose Church in Anthem that drew more than 400 people. Attendees paid $5 admission and were asked to contribute two cans of food.
The troop adopted a family at Christmas, conducting cookie sales and garage sales to buy gifts for a family of six.
Girl Troop 2540 is open to girls in Anthem, Tramonto and the Desert Hills area.
