New River Elementary hosts meeting about override
Staff Report ~ 2/3/2010

The Parent Teacher and Student Association is sponsoring a meeting about the upcoming
override at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at New River Elementary.
On March 9 voters will decide whether to continue the existing 10 percent Maintenance and Operations Override that voters last passed in 2005 which supports salaries and benefits. The district is also asking for an additional 5 percent funding to maintain existing programs throughout the district.
If voters fail to approve the measure, the district will be required to reduce the 2011-12 override budget by one-third, approximately $5.5 million, for three years.
Jim Migliorino, Executive Director of Fiscal Services, will provide facts about the proposed override during an information forum. Deer Valley Unified School District Vice President Ann Ordway also will be on hand.
Information and the presentation can be found on the district website at www.dvusd.org.
