PVCC offers free financial aid seminar
Staff Report ~ 1/27/2010
Paradise Valley Community College, a Maricopa Community College, can
help you learn how to score financial aid for tuition during its College
Goal Sunday
event from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, in the PVCC Studio Theater, 18401
N. 32nd Street, Phoenix.
The free event is the gateway to finding federal grants, work-study
grant programs, low-interest and interest-free federal education loans
and scholarships.
“The foundation of paying for college is the application process.
Students who experience College Goal Sunday have the advantage of
working directly with financial aid professionals. Navigating the
maze of scholarships, grants and loans to pay for college can be stressful.
This is an opportunity to demystify the system,” says Kenneth Clarke,
PVCC interim director of financial aid.
The event is free and open to college-bound students, parents and
others seeking financial aid assistance.
College Goal Sunday offers a workshop on the basics of financial aid
and scholarships as well as assistance filling out and electronically
submitting the Federal Student Aid FAFSA form. More than 30,000 students
have received help at this annual event, making the difference for
some in the ability to attend college at all. College graduates go
on to earn as much as 73 percent more than those with only a high
school diploma. A college degree also can mean the difference between
getting a job and building a career.
